WHAT THEY ARE SAYING ABOUT CCCs

"If walk-in clinics in retail outlets are the most convenient way for families to safely meet simple needs why should government stand in their way?"
-John McCain, Presidential Candidate, 2008

"Perhaps, as physicians, we should take a closer look at this model.  Certainly, for many patients who cannot get in to see their own physician in an immediate care situation, an alternative other than the ED or urgent care might prove to be more useful."
-Edward L. Langston, MD, American Medical Association, AMEDNEWS.COM, 2008

"Rather than view retail clinics as a threat, hospital leaders may find in these clinics are an opportunity to expand their services."
-Maria Finarelli and Nivi Pillai, Hospitals and Health Networks, 2008

"The store-based model will likely pressure more established health care providers to match their retail-style service and transparency in pricing."
-Christopher Bailey, Sr. Vice President, Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association, The Roanoke Times, 2008

"Most people who have used retail clinics are satisfied with the care that they received."
-The Wall Street Journal, Online/Harris Interactive, 2007

“Given the stresses expected to bear upon delivery of services in the future, such models deserve consideration as one potential mechanism for maximizing patient benefit with limited resources.”
-Dr. Richard Bohmer, New England Journal of Medicine, 2007

"Retail-based clinics are part of an insurance environment where “consumer-driven”
concepts such as transparency, convenience and cost savings are being touted."
-HealthLeaders, InterStudy, 2007

"Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota found that visits to Convenient Care Clinics cost half as much as visits to physicians' offices for similar conditions."
-Time Magazine, 2006

About NPs

Nurse Practitioners (NP) are registered nurses with advanced education and training who provide a broad scope of health care services. NP capabilities include health promotion, patient evaluation, treatment, diagnosis, education, counseling, case management, and coordination of care.

CCCs are usually staffed by NPs, who have proven through their 40-year history to provide high quality, patient centered, compassionate care. Sometimes, CCCs are staffed by other types of advanced practice nurses, including clinical nurse specialists. All CCC providers have advanced education in providing quality health care for common episodic ailments including cold/flu, rashes/skin irritation, and muscles strains or sprains. CCC staff also provide immunizations, physicals, and preventive health screenings.
